CULTIVATING MY QI with Qigong

No matter whom your doctor, what your health challenge, what medicine you are taking — always lead with self-care. You are the primary health care provider on your case.

My Qigong practice helped me eliminate severe joint pain,  calm my nervous system, reduce anxiety, improve my sleep, increase my energy and stamina and allowed me to return to my healthy, active lifestyle stronger than ever.

A lover of nature and the outdoors, I have always had an active lifestyle and enjoy hiking, biking, skiing and the beautiful views of San Francisco Bay.

I discovered Qigong while on a healing journey from Lyme disease, a bacterial infection transmitted by a tick bite.  My life changed in 2007 when I became ill. It took 2 years before I was properly diagnosed. Once Lyme goes into late-stage it invades many systems in the body and is very difficult to treat. (Lyme is called the "Great Imitator" because it is often misdiagnosed as lupus, ALS/Lou Gehrig's Disease, MS, Chronic fatigue syndrome, depression, fibromyalgia, etc.).  I became so arthritic that I could barely walk or perform normal daily activities. My nervous system was a wreck; I had extreme fatigue; was in constant pain, unable to work and unable to sleep.

KEEP CALM & DO QIGONG

I’m grateful to the medical doctors who finally diagnosed and treated me. Medications helped get rid of the nasty bugs, but I still had a long road ahead to regain my health and vitality. In my quest to return to wellbeing, I worked with many wonderful complementary healers with expertise in a variety of modalities - one of which was Qigong!  I loved the movements, but more importantly the immediate benefits I experienced by practicing them. It didn't take long before my body was released from the bondage it had been in for the last several years.

Inspired to learn more about this powerful practice, I studied with a number of qigong and tai chi masters, eventually completing a 3-level certification program in Integral Qigong and Tai Chi with Dr. Roger Jahnke, OMD in Santa Barbara CA and a certification program in Wild Goose (Dayan) Qigong with Medical Qigong Master Dr. Bingkun Hu in Berkeley CA, with whom I continued to study until his passing in 2021.

The great joy that I feel when I practice Qigong inspires me to keep at it. The dramatic improvements in my own health contunues to spark my desire to share Qigong with others.

My healing journey was long and arduous but also truly transformational. It taught me resilience and self-empowerment and has changed the course of my life. Discovering Qigong was a silver lining to a very challenging time.
